Symptoms of W32 Silly FDC (java.dll) virus and it's removal

Symptoms


  • Internet Explorer freezes but internet can be browsed by other browsers such as opera.
  • Computer runs slower than before.
  • As the infection deepens the system restarts frequently and generates blue dead screen if automatic restart is disabled.
  • Temp folder shows following files which cannot be deleted.



Removal


  • Delete the files from the another system/ or using bootable disks since they cannot be deleted from system


  1. Windows\system32\mfc48.dll
  2. Windows\system32\kernel32.sys
  3. Windows\system32\rar.exe
  4. Windows\java\java.dll


  • Remove the hook of kernel32.sys and java.dll using AUTORUN tool (Appinit and Explorer) or HIJACKTHIS tool.
